It’s easier than you think.

There is a longstanding and unfair stereotype regarding the inadequacy of vegan sweets and treats. Personally, I can tell you that vegan pastries, cakes, cookies, and chocolates are simply scrumptious. They also don’t leave you feeling bloated but with a satisfied sweet tooth and a full belly.

So if you’re planning an event and want to have a dessert bar, you definitely want to prove how delicious cruelty-free desserts are. I would recommend on including a large variety of sweets since your guests will expect and hope for variety at a large catered event. I have recommended some of my favorite vegan bakeries in New Jersey and brands you may be interested in serving at your event.

Papa Ganache: Matawan, NJ

This little hole in the wall on Matawan Main Street is a renowned vegan bakery in NJ since they were featured on cupcake wars. They offer everything you could wish for from muffins to cheesecakes, pies, donuts, and more. Their cupcakes are my favorite. This bakery is not nut-free but is fully vegan and gluten-free.

Sweet Avenue Bake Shop– Rutherford, NJ

They specialize in cakes and have unique flavors to offer like chocolate raspberry, cinnamon bun, and my personal fave-carrot cake, plus more! They do charge more for decorations, but if it will be amongst other desserts I don’t see a need to purchase one with a special message and design on it. It’s important to note that this bakery isn’t strictly gluten-free and do use some soy products in their recipes, but they are nut-free

Om Sweet Om– Cliffside Park, NJ

Launched in May 2013, On Sweet Om’s mission was to produce desserts that were not so detrimental to our health. They serve cake balls, donuts, and more, oh my with a 100% vegan with in-house-made vegan “buttah” to support their delectable selection of sweets. They also offer cinnamon rolls, cookies, and brownies, plus more! This bakery has a dedicated vegan and gluten-free kitchen. Get in my belly!

Broad Street Dough Company– Freehold, NJ

Vegan and gluten-free donuts! With over 20+ donut flavors to choose from, you can also create your own flavor. When it comes to catering, they offer mini donut platters in small, medium, or large tiers and you can choose up to three flavors (not including the specialty menu.) The large platter is 90$ and comes to less than 1$ per donut. Talk about a good deal for vegan goodness. They also cater churros!

The Baklava Lady– Englishtown, NJ

From puddings to bundt cake, creampie to semolina cake, this 100% vegan bakery is delicious and affordable. This Turkish-style baklava is freshly baked and served within 24 hours of creation to provide the freshest desserts possible. Check out some of their gourmet vegan coffees like Turkish Pistachio coffee, too!

Store-Bought Must-Haves

So Delicious Frozen Desserts

Sorbet, ice cream, mousse, cool whip, and ice-cream sandwiches all have a home at your dessert bar. Cruelty-free never tasted so good than it does in 2020!

Oreos + Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup + Peanut Butter

Beware, not all oreo flavors are vegan, but the original sure is, plus a select other few. No, they are not healthy. But they are delicious and inexpensive! Pair them with Hershey’s chocolate syrup plus lots of peanut butter. The kids will love them. (As will the adults.)

Sweet Loren’s Cookie Dough

Not only are these delicious, but a little goes a long way. They are quick and easy to make, store-bought, and definite crowd-pleasers. I bet they won’t even know they’re vegan.

EnjoyLife Vegan Cookies

Not only am I obsessed with this brand because they taste amazing, but also because they are devoid of the most common allergies. They are light, soft, chewy, and sweet while encompassing all the perfection that a cookie should be. You must try these.

Of course, there are so many more possibilities of what you can serve at your vegan dessert bar, but I wanted to get some ideas flowing for you. I also wanted to help you realize that it is definitely possible to have a fully vegan event, whether you cook some items yourself in advance, decide on specialty catering, or even bring in some outside food (if that’s allowed.) I am so excited to lend some ideas to help you plan your big day, and look forward to seeing you use some of these well-loved brands and bakeries to your benefit.

Thanks so much for reading! Leave a comment letting me know what you decided to incorporate into your event!
